Learn canoe paddling techniques at the Paddle the Mississinewa workshop on Aug. 26. The program will run from 9 to 11 a.m. Participants will be notified of the meeting location when they register. All equipment, including canoes, will be provided. The number of canoes is limited. Just before every Memorial and Labor Day arrives, the upper Midwest congregates to the Noble County Fairgrounds for two reasons: Bluegrass music and camping. Mountain bike the Bloodroot Trail at Salamonie Lake’s Second Saturday program on Sept. 8. The program runs from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. and starts at Salamonie Interpretive Center. Participants will bike the Bloodroot Trail and have a picnic lunch break. Wear appropriate clothes for trail riding and pack a lunch and water. Participants should bring their own mountain bikes. Take a guided walking tour through the North Webster Cemetery where enactors portray individuals buried there. Hear their life stories and learn about local history through the lives of ordinary people. Tours start at the North Webster Library, 301 N.
