Attendees will enjoy a day of learning in the innovative and comfortable atmosphere at the Parkview Mirro Center.

The Junior League of Fort Wayne is excited to offer high-caliber speakers from highly regarded educational and leadership organizations with the Education Empowerment Series to teachers, parents, daycare owners/employees, and leaders in Northeast Indiana. Community sponsor, Parkview Health, is partnering with JLFW for the first conference. “Educators, parents, and childcare providers in our community and surrounding areas deserve quality professional development opportunities,” said Jessica Swinford, JLFW President. “We want to provide affordable and local experiences for those who need and desire training from organizations like Conscious Discipline.”

The Education Empowerment Series is intended for teachers, daycare providers, and parents; however, everyone is invited to attend. For teachers, Conscious Discipline integrates social-emotional learning, discipline and self-regulation so you spend less time policing behaviors and more time teaching vital life skills. Conscious Discipline is a longtime leader in integrating classroom management and social-emotional learning. It utilizes everyday events rather than an external curriculum, and addresses the adult's emotional intelligence as well as the child's. Learn to respond to daily conflict in a way that transforms it into an opportunity to teach critical life skills, and watch every aspect of your classroom life improve! It is evidence-based, and was named as a national model for character education by the Florida State Legislature.

For parents and caretakers, Conscious Discipline provides a proven and comprehensive approach that will improve both your life and the lives of your children. It empowers you with the self-awareness, brain information, developmental knowledge and useable skills necessary to create safe, connected, problem-solving homes.

Speaker Amy Speidel is a national presenter and a certified Parent Coach. She is a birth parent, an adoptive parent, and has been a foster parent. Speidel brings a humorous and insightful perspective to her presentations by sharing many personal insights about the challenges and the delights of children. Her message is one of hope that transforms educators and parents who yearn for a better way, a more conscious way to discipline their children and themselves.

“Our vision is to offer one or two conferences in Northeast Indiana each year,” said Swinford. “Each conference has the ability to showcase proven educational or leadership focused organizations and speakers. We want the Series to be a continuous avenue of empowerment.”

The Junior League of Fort Wayne, Inc. is an organization of women committed to promoting voluntarism, developing the potential of women, and improving the community through the effective action and leadership of trained volunteers. Its purpose is exclusively educational and charitable.
