Fort Wayne Public Television, Inc. (PBS39) seeks a Development Assistant to provide administrative support to PBS39’s Development Department and manage the station’s front desk and Welcome Center.

This position provides administrative support to PBS39’s development department and manages the station’s front office reception functions, including greeting guests, answering phones, handling company inquiries, and sorting and distributing mail. This position is the first point of contact for the entire organization and requires a positive attitude, professional appearance and a customer service orientation. This position works with PBS39’s development staff and reports to the Development Manager.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

Performs administrative and clerical support for PBS39’s development department.

  • Runs distribution list for monthly program guides
  • Prepares renewal notices and acknowledgement letters
  • Manages premium orders
  • Oversees PBS39Passport) and thank you letters
  • Assists the work of the development department as needed

Manages PBS39’s front desk and welcome center on a daily basis.

  • Contributes to the security of the office by helping to monitor visitors’ access
  • Greets visitors and escorts them to specific destinations
  • Answers incoming calls and redirects them or keeps messages
  • Collects, sorts, distributes, and prepares mail and courier deliveries
  • Checks, sorts and forwards voicemails
  • Ensures that station’s welcome area is clean, secure and well maintained
  • Performs other administrative support tasks as needed

REQUIRED SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Must possess a minimum of a high school diploma. Previous office experience strongly preferred.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office basic applications WORD, EXCEL, and OUTLOOK and multi-line phone system required; familiarity with database software a plus.
  • This position involves contact with the public; therefore, professional appearance and demeanor are essential.
  • Must be well organized, detail-oriented, and comfortable working with a minimum of direct supervision. The ability to coordinate multiple office functions simultaneously is required.
  • Must possess excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Must have polished, pleasant and professional telephone communication skills and the ability to deal with difficult callers.
  • The ability to be a team player and take direction from others is essential.
  • Must be able to sit for up to four (4) hours per day.

WORK SCHEDULE

  • 25 hours of work weekly – Monday through Friday, 8:15 am-1:00 pm.
